Job Description
The Field Services Representative provides excellent service to our customers, shareholders and employees by successfully performing all functions necessary to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the public water system. Duties include the installation, maintenance, repair, relocation, retirement, testing and operations of the water distribution system and related structures. They will also be responsible for and grounds operation, meter reading and customer service work, as well as maintenance of production and treatment facilities. A Field Services Representative works with and/or under the supervision of the Foreman and must be capable of assuming responsibility to complete assigned tasks efficiently and effectively and must be able to work independently.

The Field Service Representative will perform a wide variety of duties and tasks related to operating and maintaining a public water distribution system, including:
Operation and routine maintenance of equipment and vehicles; i.e., trucks, digging and trenching equipment, pavement and rock breakers, tampers, pumps, compressors, and such other equipment as the Company may have or acquire for the purpose of system construction or maintenance.
Installation, maintenance, and repair of pipe, hydrants, service lines, manholes and related valves, fittings and appurtenances.
Installation of meters, meter reading, and the transfer of meter reads to the home office.
Performing field customer service work
Grounds keeping at company facilities and over mains, services and other areas.
Make measurements and surveys as required for proper record keeping.
Perform and record inspections and tests of systems
Load and unload various equipment, materials and supplies at work sites and store areas.

Required Skills
The successful candidate must have 10 years of demonstrated experience in the water industry and hold or obtain a State of Maine Class 1 Distribution Water System operators license, or obtain one within one year.
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
A valid Maine driver's license is required. CDL preferred.
Must be able to communicate clearly in verbal and written form, and have legible handwriting.
Must demonstrate the proper regard for the use of time and equipment, and an awareness of the responsibility to safeguard the water supply and prevent pollution of area surface water.
Have the ability to successfully work as part of a team, gain cooperation from others, communicate with, and assist other employees and the public.
Be able to follow written and verbal instructions and regulations.
Be able to prioritize responsibilities throughout the day.
Must be able to send and receive instructions by radio and phone.
Must have demonstrated computer skills.
Must be available for reasonable overtime work and be available for emergency on call duty when necessary to provide service to the public.

Required Experience
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Work is primarily outdoors with prolonged periods of physical activity, but will also include and require the following:
Exposure to indoor and outdoor settings, potentially extreme heat, cold, wind, or humidity.
Frequent walking, bending, climbing and kneeling, and occasional squatting and crawling.
Exposure to sufficient noise to cause employee to shout above ambient noise level.
Potential exposure to vibration, fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases, poor ventilation, toxic fumes, hazardous chemicals.
Occasionally in close quarters, crawl spaces, shafts, manholes, small-enclosed rooms, permitted or non-permitted confined spaces and narrow aisles or passageways.
Occasional balancing, frequent repetitive motion, lifting, pushing and pulling.
Occasional exertion of force up to 50 pounds, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly.
Frequent dexterity skills including feeling, grasping, reaching, and fingering.
Continuous hearing, talking, seeing as well as the ability to read, comprehend, problem solve, reason and concentrate.
Must be able to perform the physical functions required to operate all the necessary equipment to perform the functions of the job described above.
